The Origins of Mother-Child Tensions
Ever wonder where mother-daughter issues start from? Well it could be in the womb. It seems that mothers are fighting with their little ones right from the start–and those little fetuses are pushing back, rebelling in a sense. You see, of all the wonders of pregnancy, I’ve been constantly fascinated that we stay pregnant at all. I mean, the fetus is foreign so our bodies should fight it the way we do, say, a germ. So I was so excited to learn that NYU School of Medicine has an entire lab devoted to investigating maternal-fetal interactions. Please see my story published on Slate’s Double X:
